Frank's Electronics and Robotics Projects

I created this page to document electronics and robotics projects that I hope to work on in the future. As I am writing this, I haven't written about or completed an electronics / robotics project since the creation of this page, but I plan to get back into it after getting back into 3D printing. I first got into electronics after realizing during my mechanical engineering degree that if I ever wanted to build something, I would need a better knowledge of electronics and controls. This led me to choose as my technical electives in my major: mechatronics, the basics of sensor applications, and the mechanics of electronics packaging.

While the basics of sensor applications and mechanics of electronics packaging classes were mainly theoretical, the mechatronics class was more hands on. In the mechatronics class, we completed many projects coding microcontrollers to complete some task. Our final project was coding a PIC microcontroller in BASIC to control an LCD display and a stepper motor. This mechatronics class led me to try and learn more about electronics outside of class. I have mainly used and still mainly use Arduino to complete electronics projects, but I am considering, in the future, getting back into utilizing Rasberry PIs because of the more advanced sensors and computing that can be done with them. A project that I have had in mind for the future would be a live camera on my 3D printer that transmits video and gcode to this site which would then display the 3D printer along with a Three.js rendering of the printer, showing the print in real time, but I will probably need a Pi camera sensor for that.
