Game of Thrones

I wanted to read this book because I saw it lying around, and I wanted to read something that didn't take as much focus as is required for reading technical or historical works.

After the prologue that introduces the night' watch, the book starts at Winterfell with King Robert and the royal family coming to the Starks. The book ends with Daenerys holding three dragons in her arms after burning a funeral pyre for her husband. The book follows the adventures of Ned Stark, Tyrion Lannister, Catelyn Stark, Daenerys Targaryen, Sansa Stark, Arya Stark, and Jon Snow. The book is primarily concerned with Ned Stark's investigation into the reason why Jon Arryn, former hand of the king, had possibly been killed, the development of Daenerys, her wedding, maturation, freedom from her brother Viserys, and her eventual freedom from her Dothraki husband, and the development of Jon Snow.

I gave this book 3 stars because it was fun and quick to read. I don't think I will read the rest of the books in the series anytime soon because I thought it was kind of a waste of time and I would rather read or do different things. My favorite quote from the book is: The things we love destroy us - Lord Commander of the Night's Watch Jeor Mormont to Jon Snow.
